Getting started

First off all high there to everyone and thank you for taking time to read this, hope you enjoy and visit us one day in Zambia.

For me photography is much more than just a picture on paper! For me it is part of me and speak louder than words, looking at a picture – it tells a story, it gives me hope and it is just pure happiness to look at. Whatever your reason for taking photos. I think we all strive to be better and we always try to improve the way we take the pictures, either trying different angles, playing around with shutter speed or maybe filters, we are always busy thinking on what to try next, the next BIG shot!

Here at Wildlife Camp Zambia, I have kicked off with a lifelong dream of starting a Wildlife and Bird specific Photo Safari. Herman Miles our director who started this camp way back in 1992 has backed me with this and has given me his support. We are not an upmarket camp but we do value our good name and reputation in the industry and we tend to keep it that way. We offer a relaxed and affordable Safari from our camp on private owned land on the banks of the Luangwa River; we like to think that we have one of the best spots on the river in the whole of the Luangwa. About 6km from Mfuwe we are far enough away not to let all the noise in the town affect your stay with us. We are an unfenced camp which ad to the adventure that you might see one of the iconic animals of the Luangwa close-up as they move through the camp.

We have fixed up and build a photographic vehicle with only 6 comfortable bucket seats, 3 each side of the vehicle with boxes in the centre to safeguard the extra gear. All have swing arms on the side, built by our own workshop and bars in front of all the seats to mount an extra bracket or beanbag. We do have a covered canvas roof but generally choose to go without it, much easier to shoot straight up than leaning out the side to get a shot of bird flying over.

Please have a look through our website and contact me should there be any questions. We still have some upcoming fixed date tours for this year.
